“Development of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Context of Strengthening the Business Environment”, doctoral thesis on economics, Chisinau, 2012
The thesis contains an introduction, 3 chapters, general conclusions and
recommendations, bibliography of 138 titles, 24 annexes and is performed on 144 pages,
including 15 tables and 16 figures. The research is reflected in 14 scientific publications.

The thesis’s field of study is represented by the economic functions and activities of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The purpose and objectives of the thesis lie in the research and systematization of
theoretical and methodological aspects regarding the activity of Chambers of Commerce and
Industry, analyzing their impact on entrepreneurship.
Topicality and scientific originality: has been systematized various scientific literature
referring to the creation and evolution of consular organizations worldwide; has been
emphasized the role of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the creation of a favorable
environment for entrepreneurial activity; have been highlighted the main differences between the
Anglo-Saxon and Roman-Germanic models based on the study of the experience of organizing
the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in different countries; has been argued the
interprofessional mission of CCI, whose fundamental character involves the study of general
interests of commerce and industry after having defined the private interests; has been conducted
a comprehensive study on the activity of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the
Republic of Moldova.
Important scientific problem solved in the thesis refers to the research of Chambers of
Commerce and Industry as a complex system representing the interests of entrepreneurs and
highlighting some priorities for development of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the
Republic of Moldova, taking into account international experience of other similar organizations.
Theoretical significance and practical value of the thesis. The analysis of the role of the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the country's economic development in general, and
entrepreneurship, in particular, is of major importance from both theoretical and practical point
of view. Theoretically and scientifically, the present research is one of the first comprehensive
works devoted to the research of Chambers of Commerce and Industry as actors influencing the
socio-economic development of the country. The theoretical importance of the thesis is
determined by: the study of insufficiently known up to now things referring to the role of the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the entrepreneurship development; highlighting the need
for a more active involvement of the CCI a RM in the professional training of young people,
including entrepreneurs, signing of partnership agreements with educational institutions.
Starting with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the activity, there has been revealed the
essence of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the main differences between them and other
consular organizations.
Implementation of scientific results: some recommendations, developed in the thesis,
have been accepted to be used in the activity of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the
Republic of Moldova.
